Privacy Notice
Welcome to the Fable Psychology Privacy Notice
Last Updated: 3rd March 2026

This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, and protect your data, and the types of information involved. We want you to feel confident that your information is handled responsibly, so please read it carefully.

Fable Psychology operates as an agent for a network of independent, qualified clinicians. We help connect clients with suitable therapists based on their needs and preferences. We support your search for the best-fit therapist in a safe and caring way — kind of like a personalised match-making service for mental health support.

By continuing to use our services, you agree to how we handle your data as described here. If you have any questions or concerns or want to learn more about who is responsible for your data, please see the How to Contact Us section at the end.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Notice, please do not use our services.

1. Who We Are and How We Use Your Data
At Fable, we value your privacy and are committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. We process your data only when we have a clear and lawful reason to do so — this means we handle your information fairly, transparently, and with care.

We collect different types of data to help connect you with the right therapist, manage your bookings, provide support, improve our services, and keep everything safe and secure.

2. What Information We Collect

We may collect and use the following types of data:

-
Identity Data: Your full name, preferred name, date of birth, and other identifiers to make sure we know exactly who you are.
-
Contact Data: Your email address, phone number, and mailing address, so we can get in touch with you.
-
Payment Data: Bank details or card information needed to process payments securely.
-
Booking & Session Data: Details about your appointments, cancellations, or if you miss a session — helping us manage your bookings smoothly.
-
Technical Data: Information such as your IP address, device type, browser details, and location (if you've enabled location tracking) — this helps us understand how people use our site and improve our platform.
-
Profile & Feedback Data: Your preferences, feedback, responses to surveys, and any information you share about your needs.
-
Location Data: Your primary address (if you’ve given permission) to help us personalise your experience or support local services.
-
Usage Data: How you navigate and interact with our website and services — which pages you visit, how long you stay, etc.
-
Marketing Preferences: How you want to hear from us and what kind of updates you'd like to receive.
-
Sensitive / Special Category Data: Details about your mental health, physical health, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, or sex life — only processed with your clear consent or where the law allows.
We might also use data for research or improving our tools — all data used for these purposes will be anonymised to protect your privacy.
3. How We Collect Your Data

We gather your data through various ways:

-
When you visit our website, fill in forms, or book sessions.
-
Via emails, calls, or messages you send us directly.
-
When you use our tools such as the therapy matching questionnaires or surveys.
-
From third-party sources, like referral agencies or publicly available information, always following legal requirements and with your permission if needed.
4. Why We Use Your Data
We process your information for important reasons, including:

-
Connecting you with suitable therapists — this is part of the service we provide to you.
-
Managing bookings, payments, and your profile — so your experience is smooth and easy.
-
Supporting your mental health journey — through communication, sending helpful updates, or providing resources.
-
Conducting research to improve services — such as validating questionnaires and understanding therapy outcomes, but always with your explicit consent.
-
Inviting you (with your permission) to participate in research studies or surveys about therapy outcomes. Your participation is completely voluntary, and it helps us improve our services and develop better tools for mental health support. You are always free to decline or withdraw from participation at any time, and this will never affect your current therapy or services.
5. Lawful Basis for Processing Your Data
We process your data based on clear, lawful reasons, including:

-
Performance of a contract: To provide and manage the services you request, such as connecting you with a therapist and managing your bookings.
-
Legal obligations: To comply with laws and regulations, especially around safety and safeguarding.
-
Legitimate interests: To improve our services, prevent abuse, and ensure your safety.
-
Explicit consent: For activities that require your special permission, such as processing sensitive health information, marketing communications, or participating in research.
You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. To do so, contact us at hello@fablepsychology.co.uk. Please be aware that withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer process certain types of your data, or you may not receive some services or communications.
6. Sharing Your Data
We do not sell or rent your personal data. However, we may share it in the following situations:

-
With trusted therapists and clinicians — so they can provide your therapy sessions and support your mental health journey.
-
With authorities or emergency services — if it’s necessary to protect your safety or comply with legal requirements.
-
In the event of a business sale, merger, or transfer — your data may be transferred to new owners, but only in accordance with your rights and the law.
-
For research purposes — in anonymised and aggregated form, with your explicit permission if necessary, to help improve our services and understanding of therapy outcomes.
7. Data Security and Storage
Your data is stored securely using protected servers and cloud systems. We implement measures such as encryption, restricted access, and security reviews to keep your data safe.

In cases where we use cloud providers based outside the UK, your data—including your IP address and technical details—may be transferred internationally.
All such transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office, which safeguard your data and ensure it remains protected under the law.
If you’d like to learn more about these safeguards or have questions about where your data is stored, please contact us!
8. Your Rights

You have several rights regarding your personal data, including:

-
Right to Access: You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you.
-
Right to Rectify: You can ask us to correct or update inaccurate or incomplete data.
-
Right to Erase: You can ask us to delete your data, subject to certain legal exceptions.
-
Right to Restrict Processing: You can request that we limit how we use your data in specific situations.
-
Right to Data Portability: You can ask us to provide your data in a format that you can transfer elsewhere.
-
Right to Object: You can object to how we process your data for certain purposes, such as marketing or legitimate interests.
To exercise any of these rights, or if you have questions about your data, please contact us at hello@fablepsychology.co.uk.
We will respond promptly and in line with our legal responsibilities. You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time, which may affect how we process your data or the services we can provide.
9. Marketing and Communications
We may send you updates, newsletters, or special offers — but only if you’ve opted in to receive marketing messages.
-
You can choose to receive or stop receiving these at any time — just contact us or update your preferences in your profile.
-
We will never send marketing communications without your clear permission, and you can immediately unsubscribe from any emails using the link provided.
10. Participation in Research
From time to time, we may invite you to take part in research or surveys to help us understand how therapy helps people and to develop better tools.

-
All data used for research will be anonymised so your personal information is protected.
-
Participation is voluntary — you can decline or withdraw at any time with no effect on your services.
-
We will ask for your explicit permission before including your data in any published research or reports.
11. Data Retention
We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary to provide our services and to comply with legal obligations.
So, what does “your data” include?

-
Your personal information, such as your name, contact details, and any health information you’ve shared with us.
-
Details about your bookings and sessions, including appointment dates, times, and notes from your sessions (where applicable).
-
Payment and billing information used to process transactions.
-
Communication records, like emails or messages exchanged with us.
-
Technical information, such as your IP address or device details that help us optimise our service.
-
Survey responses or feedback you’ve provided.
-
Any sensitive health or mental health information you have disclosed during your sessions or questionnaires.
All of this information is stored securely and used only for the purposes we’ve described — like managing your sessions, providing support, and improving our services.
In brief:

• We typically retain all this data for up to 10 years after your last interaction with us unless we’re required to keep it for longer due to legal or business reasons.
• If you want us to delete your data sooner — for example, if you no longer want us to keep your information or you’re no longer using our services — you can contact us. We will review your request and, as long as there are no legal reasons to retain the data, we will delete it promptly.
12. Children and Minors
Our services are designed for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 18.

-
If you are under 18 and wish to use any of our services, please have a parent or guardian contact us on your behalf.
-
If we become aware that we have unintentionally collected data from a minor under 18 without proper consent, we will delete that information promptly.
-
We ask parents or guardians to supervise children and adolescents’ use of mental health services and ensure they understand how their data will be used.
13. Automated Decision-Making
We want you to feel confident that all decisions affecting you are made fairly and with human oversight.

-
You will not be subject to decisions that significantly impact you based solely on automated processes — such as algorithms deciding your suitability for therapy — unless we have a lawful basis for doing so and have informed you in advance.
-
If such decisions are made, we will explain how the decision is made and give you options to challenge or request a human review if needed.
14. Changes to This Privacy Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in our services or legal requirements.
-
We encourage you to review it periodically.
-
Your continued use of our services after updates signifies that you accept the revised notice.
