Website Terms and Conditions

Service use

By accessing or using any service offered by Fable Psychology — including the website, online resources, social media content, the Therapist Matching service, Free Consultation, or any other service offered by Fable Psychology — and/or by engaging with an Affiliate Clinician, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and Conditions. Use of our services is subject to these Terms; if you do not agree, do not use the services.

Matching services

Fable Psychology provides a Therapist Matching service designed to help individuals find a suitable independent therapist from our network of clinicians (our “Affiliate Clinicians”). As part of this, our Affiliate Clinicians may offer a free consultation. Fable Psychology’s role is limited to matching clients or otherwise supporting them with the process of finding an Affiliate Clinician. Fable Psychology does not provide therapy, psychological treatment, or clinical services directly. All therapy services are offered directly by Affiliate Clinicians as set out below.

The information you provide to Fable Psychology in connection with the Therapist Matching service (including questionnaires, forms, communications and supporting documents) will be used solely to assist in identifying and recommending one or more independent practitioners from our network (“Affiliate Clinicians”) who may meet your stated needs. We use reasonable care, skill and professional judgment when assessing the information you provide and making recommendations, but all matches are provided for information and facilitation purposes only.

You acknowledge that Fable Psychology makes no representation or warranty, express or implied, as to the suitability, effectiveness, safety, professionalism, qualifications, registration, licensing or conduct of any Affiliate Clinician, or as to the outcome of any therapeutic relationship. Therapeutic relationships are individual and results cannot be guaranteed; you remain solely responsible for deciding whether to engage with any Affiliate Clinician, for assessing their suitability, and for any decisions you make in relation to your care. You are under no obligation to continue working with an Affiliate Clinician and may decline, change or discontinue services at any time.

The Therapist Matching service does not replace the professional judgment of any Affiliate Clinician or constitute medical, psychological or other professional advice. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fable Psychology excludes liability for any loss, damage, cost or expense (including indirect or consequential loss) arising from or in connection with: (a) your use of the matching service; (b) your decision to engage or not to engage with any Affiliate Clinician; (c) the acts, omissions, advice, treatment, conduct or performance of any Affiliate Clinician; or (d) any failure to achieve a particular therapeutic outcome. Nothing in this clause excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or other non‑excludable liability under UK law).

Where appropriate we will take reasonable steps to verify key professional details provided by Affiliate Clinicians (for example qualifications and registration). However, we rely on information supplied by clinicians and third parties and cannot guarantee its accuracy, completeness or currency. You should therefore undertake your own checks and satisfy yourself as to any clinician’s credentials, insurance and suitability before entering into a therapeutic relationship.

Fable Psychology reserves the right, at our sole discretion, to decline, suspend or discontinue provision of the Therapist Matching service (or any other service) to any person, including where we consider the service unsuitable for your needs, where required information is incomplete or inaccurate, or where continued provision would create unacceptable risk.

Therapy services offered by Affiliate Clinicians

All Affiliate Clinicians listed on our website or introduced by Fable Psychology operate as independent practitioners. They are not employees, agents, or representatives of Fable Psychology. Each Affiliate Clinician is solely responsible for the services they provide, including assessment, clinical decisions, treatment, professional conduct, and compliance with relevant regulatory and ethical standards.

Any contract for therapy services is entered into directly between you and the relevant Affiliate Clinician. Fable Psychology does not provide therapy services and is not a party to any contract or clinical relationship between you and an Affiliate Clinician. The Affiliate Clinician is solely responsible for the delivery of therapy services, including all clinical, professional, and regulatory obligations arising from that relationship.

By using Fable Psychology’s services, you agree and acknowledge that Fable Psychology, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any claims, injuries, illnesses, risks, damages, liabilities, or costs (“Claims”) arising from or related to your use of our platform, services, content, or interactions with Affiliate Clinicians or third parties. This includes, but is not limited to, Claims from attending consultations, participating in virtual events, webinars, or using any materials provided by Fable Psychology.

Services by Affiliate Clinicians

Fable Psychology acts solely as a facilitator for connecting clients with independent Affiliate Clinicians. We do not provide therapy, clinical advice, or medical treatment ourselves. All clinical services are provided directly by Affiliate Clinicians, who are responsible for their own professional conduct and compliance. We accept no liability for any Claims arising from or related to the services, advice, or conduct of these clinicians.

Verification and Client Responsibility

While we make reasonable efforts to verify the qualifications and professional registrations of Affiliate Clinicians, we rely on the information provided by them and do not guarantee its accuracy or completeness. Clients are strongly encouraged to independently verify qualifications, credentials, and suitability before engaging with an Affiliate Clinician.

Emergency and Critical Situations

If you or someone else is experiencing a life-threatening emergency or serious mental health crisis, please call emergency services immediately (e.g., 999 in the UK). Our services are not suitable for responding to emergencies that require urgent intervention, such as suicidal intent, homicidal thoughts, or physical harm.
For urgent mental health support, consider contacting specialized emergency mental health services or crisis helplines such as Samaritans (116 123) or NHS urgent mental health helpline.

Important:

Fable Psychology’s platform and services are not intended for urgent or emergency situations. We do not accept any liability for incidents occurring in such contexts. If you are in doubt about your safety or someone else's, seek immediate help through emergency channels.

Exclusions and Limitations on our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fable Psychology shall not be liable for any damages, whether direct, indirect, consequential, incidental, special, or punitive, arising out of or related to your use of our services, content, or interactions, including damages for loss of data, loss of profits, or emotional distress.

Notwithstanding any other provision, our liability shall not extend to liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by negligence;

  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;

  • Any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977.

Confidentiality

We appreciate that during the use of Fable Psychology’s therapist matching services, you may disclose personal and sensitive information. We will treat this with respect and confidentiality, as set out in our privacy policy. In exceptional circumstances, we reserve the right to break confidentiality with or without consent where this is deemed necessary or prudent to avoid or minimise the risk of a client harming themselves or being harmed, there is a risk of another person being harmed, or there is some legal requirement to do so.

If you choose to use the services offered by one of our Affiliate Clinicians, we recommend you speak with them about the nature and extent of confidentiality. All accrediting therapeutic bodies within the UK require that therapists maintain the confidentiality of clients in order to respect their privacy. Please note that in exceptional circumstances, the therapist may take the decision to break confidentiality where in the therapist’s professional judgment, there is a risk of a client harming themselves or being harmed, there is a risk of another person being harmed, or if there is some other legal requirement to do so. This may occur with or without the client’s consent where necessary. This decision will be made by the clinician delivering the psychotherapy or other services. By using Fable Psychology’s services to match with an independent Affiliate Clinician, you agree that Fable Psychology bears no responsibility for any decision or action made by the clinician in relation to the maintenance or breaking of confidentiality.

Pricing and payment

Our Therapist Matching service, including any free consultation and recommendations, is provided free of charge. The estimated price for engaging the services of an Affiliate Clinician is displayed in the Affiliate Clinician’s Profile. These prices are set by the Affiliate Clinician and may be updated at their discretion. Although we endeavour to ensure all prices are up-to-date, Fable Psychology does not accept any liability for the accuracy of the prices listed by Affiliate Clinicians, and we cannot guarantee precise pricing at any given time. Should you have any complaints about the accuracy of price listed by Affiliate Clinicians, please contact us at hello@fablepsychology.co.uk and let us know your concern and we will investigate this matter.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel a session with less than 48 hours’ notice or you miss you scheduled session, your session fee will be deducted from your payment balance (i.e. you will be charged the full amount for the session). For cancellations made with more than 48 hours’ notice, the fee paid will be refunded or remain on your payment balance and you can use this for a future appointment. Sessions can be rescheduled up to 48 hours beforehand. You cannot reschedule an appointment with less than 48 hours’ notice.

While this may be difficult to hear, the policy is put in place to safeguard the service and the Affiliate Clinician’s time. When a session is cancelled without adequate notice, they are unable to fill this time slot by offering it to somebody else.

Eligibility for services

Fable Psychology’s services, including therapist matching, are not suitable for those who are experiencing acute issues and mental health crises, including suicidal crises or other issues that pose a risk to client’s health or life. If a client is suicidal, we recommend you contact emergency services. They may also consider contacting the Samaritans at www.samaritans.org or telephone them on 116 123 (UK).

Unfortunately, we may have to decline use of our service where clients are experiencing such issues. This decision is made to promote the best interests of clients as we are unable to provide the level of support that is needed in these cases.

Fable Psychology’s services are aimed at adults over the age of 18 years. Young people looking for support may consider calling Childline on 0800 1111 or website: www.childline.org.uk.

Ongoing effect of these terms and updates

Your agreement to these Terms and Conditions remains in effect regardless of whether your use of Fable Psychology’s services is terminated, including indemnification of responsibilities and liability outlined herein.

Fable Psychology reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time. Your continued use of Fable Psychology’s services after their modification signifies your acceptance of the revised Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to the updated Terms and Conditions, you must discontinue using Fable Psychology’s services. Fable Psychology will not be liable for any suspension, discontinuation, or change in any of the services it offers.
