Hello

I'm
Ellis
About me
My approach is grounded in the idea that our thoughts and behaviours play a key role in how we feel. I often begin by working together to understand the beliefs that may be shaping your day-to-day experiences, and how these might be influencing your emotions and actions.
I see therapy as a collaborative process, where we build a shared understanding of what is going on for you and how things may have developed over time. From there, we can begin to explore ways of responding differently, in a way that feels manageable and meaningful.
I have a particular interest in working with people during the perinatal period, from pregnancy through to the first couple of years after childbirth. It is often a time of significant change and vulnerability, and I find it especially rewarding to support people in building confidence and feeling more empowered during this stage of life.
What can clients expect when working with you?
I aim to create a space where you feel in control of your time and able to bring what feels most important to you into each session. While I keep a grounding in CBT, I also adapt how I work to suit you as an individual.
I enjoy getting to know the people I work with and understanding their personalities, which helps me shape sessions in a way that feels natural and engaging. The therapeutic relationship is very important to me, and I place a strong emphasis on openness and honesty on both sides.
I tend to speak in everyday language and aim to keep things relatable. Where it feels helpful, I may draw on personal examples or simple explanations to connect what we are discussing in sessions to your day-to-day life.
I have worked exclusively online for several years and feel confident in creating a space that still feels supportive and effective. Many people find that being in their own environment helps them feel more comfortable opening up, and it can also make it easier to fit therapy into a busy routine while keeping a sense of continuity between sessions.
What is unique about how you work with clients?
My background in mental health nursing has given me a strong foundation in understanding both the psychological and practical aspects of mental health, including supporting people to make sense of their experiences with medication and healthcare services.
Before training as a CBT therapist, I also worked as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner and an EMDR therapist. These experiences have shaped a well-rounded approach and allow me to draw on a range of skills when supporting clients.
Alongside this, I place a strong emphasis on building a genuine and open therapeutic relationship. I aim to meet you in a way that feels real, approachable and grounded in everyday life, so that therapy feels relevant and easier to carry into your world outside of sessions.
